Shuswap Lake takes its' name from the Shuswap Indians, the northern-most Salishan Family and one of the largest tribes in the interior of British Columbia.

Salmon Arm’s growing sophistication and competitiveness are attracting new residents and businesses alike. The infrastructure consists of complete municipal facilities. A new courthouse and City Hall opened in 2007, plus there are 3 fully equipped fire halls, a new RCMP detachment, and an excellent healthcare facility with a state-of-the-art 45 bed acute care & surgical hospital with a new CT Scan.

Salmon Arm's fountain is certainly a memorable landmark and welcoming to tourists and residents alike. It's located at McGuire Lake in the heart of the city along the Trans Canada Highway. Our hospital is the building to the left and one of two Salmon Arm high school campuses are located just behind it.
